WHY
DANCE?

Dance has been around for thousands of years — a ritual to connect with mind, body, and spirit, and to honor our emotions physically.

Three years ago, I hit a wall of depression after a "dream life" crumbled. Dream job in luxury advertising. Exciting life in New York. Crying in the shower every morning. My capacity was gone.

I made myself a deal: dance for 5 minutes every morning for 30 days. If it didn't work, I'd consider other options.

It worked. It gave me a way to move through grief, anger, and burnout instead of suppressing it. Dancing rebuilt my capacity — and became the foundation for REALM.

TO DANCE

TIME

10 minutes. It will impact your day more than coffee or a full workout — and it can count as one.

SPACE

Think of the space at a packed concert. A 3×3 square is all you need to move those hips.

FEAR

No one is around unless you want them there. You're the only one judging you. Stop that.

SKILL

Literally zero required. Do you walk? Clap? Then you know how to move your body.

MONEY

SoundCloud is free. Maybe a Spotify subscription. That's the full cost of entry.

INJURY

Isolate the injury and dance around it. Even one arm moving to a beat counts. This is about emotions, not athleticism.

The Practice

  • 1Move however your body wants. No choreography. No right way. No shame.
  • 2If something feels awkward, let it be — then move through it. The awkward is the practice.
  • 3Let your emotional state lead. Angry → aggressive. Unsure → slow. Powerful → energetic.
  • 4Try recording yourself once. Looking back builds comfort with being seen by yourself.
  • 5Journal for 5 minutes after. Even just a word list. This is how integration actually happens.

Daily Prescription

PER DAY

Morning

30+ minutes after waking. Caffeine after dancing helps regulate blood sugar. Pair with 30g of protein.

Afternoon

Try it instead of your afternoon coffee. It may energize and release your morning better than caffeine will.

Evening / Night

Great for releasing the day. Fair warning: some people (the founder included) get too hype and stay up later.

THEMES

TAKING UP SPACE

Many of us have been told — consciously and not — how much space we're allowed to take up. When you dance, you fill it with yourself. That's the practice.

PERFECTIONISM

We have deep blocks around being seen unless we're perfect. Intuitive dance isn't about how you look. Here, that genuinely doesn't matter.

DISCONNECTION

Sometimes we forget we have a body because we're so in our heads. Dancing re-grounds you into it — "Hey, we're all together here."

NON-LINEAR

Emotions aren't linear. Movement will surface things you thought you'd already processed. Let them come up, pass through, and return as needed.

FREEDOM

Freedom feels like a combination of all the themes moving through you at once. Lighter. Freer. Because you let your body actually feel.

ADAPTABILITY

Our bodies are incredibly adaptable. Intuitive dance teaches new ways to move when there's no shame attached. Move it weird. Discover what that feels like.

Making It Stick

TIPS

01

Film yourself and commit to watching it back. Get comfortable with the cringe. Affirm: "I'm proud of myself for moving through it."

Try a discovery playlist — a song you've never heard. It forces pure body intuition with no pre-loaded associations. Weird, but effective.

If it feels too uncomfortable and you don't want to do it — try one more day. Think of it as 75 Hard for your soul.

Journal for 5 minutes after. A word list is enough. This connects neural pathways from the physical experience to conscious acknowledgment.

Use your throat chakra. If something comes up — sing it, squeal it, scream a little. Sound is movement too.

Play. Have fun. Adults need unstructured time to go with the flow. We learn 40× faster through play — and your capacity thanks you for it.
